Investing in our community...

one life at a time.

Owasso Community Resources is dedicated to transforming the lives of families facing economic hardship by providing help and hope to those needing basic assistance.

The Owasso Community Garden started at Bailey Elementary School in 2023 as a Silver Award Project by Girl Scout Troop 7240. The girls built six garden beds and grew an abundance of tomatoes, peppers, and herbs, which they donated throughout the summer.

Now, a group of volunteers helps take care of the garden. In just two years, we have added eight more garden beds, a native plant rain garden, and apple and plum trees.

One of our biggest goals is to grow as much food as possible for people in our community who need it, but that’s not our only focus. We want the families who receive our food to know that their community cares about them. We choose plants that are both familiar and new, giving people the chance to try fresh foods they might not find at the grocery store. We also help them make the most of their produce by sharing tips on how to store, cook, and preserve it, so nothing goes to waste.

In addition to growing food, we want to help others start their own gardens. Whether it’s a community garden, a school garden, or a teaching garden, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to grow fresh food. We offer guidance, share resources, and provide hands-on support to help new gardens succeed. Our mission is simple: Feeding our neighbors, growing our community.

We are so proud of what we have accomplished in a short time! If you would like to get involved, join the “Owasso Community Garden” Facebook group or email owassocommunitygarden@gmail.com. To make a donation, visit our donation page and add a note of “community garden.”
